Council Meeting Report - 4/6/26

This meeting focused on a variety of projects aimed at improving city services, neighborhood quality of life, and community amenities.
One of the more significant discussions centered on the former hospital property. Council approved moving forward with an agreement that will allow the City to begin preparing for demolition of portions of the site, an important step toward future redevelopment opportunities.
Council also approved several investments in City infrastructure and equipment, including vehicles for the Service Department and Parks Department, new fire equipment, and the replacement of aging playground equipment at Greencroft Park.
In addition, we received updates on neighborhood issues raised by residents, including the ongoing efforts to address the abandoned property on Palmetto, improvements at Southwick and Broadway, and the continued process of filling vacant board and commission seats with engaged Bedford residents.
As always, residents shared concerns and ideas during public comment, covering topics ranging from neighborhood maintenance and property investment activity to improvements in our parks and downtown.
