This council meeting report included some great examples of community engagement. The Rotary Club of Bedford recently hosted a charity poker tournament at Bedford Falls Café benefiting Meals on Wheels, raising approximately $1,000 to support local seniors and residents in need. It was a great reminder of how strong Bedford’s community spirit continues to be strong.
Council Actions & Updates
Introduced myself to additional downtown businesses to continue strengthening relationships and communication.
Completed our second Bedford Downtown Alliance (BDA) meeting and outlined 2026 goals:
Rebuild a strong core membership base
Complete one community improvement project
Create and distribute a Bedford Community Recipe Book by July
Begin preparing for a Chocolate Walk revival in 2027
Shared a collaborative hospital site update with Councilman Tony Longino (Ward 6) regarding ongoing work at the site.
Continued working through roadblocks related to the Bedford Railway Quiet Zone, including cost and liability concerns, and began outreach to other cities that have successfully implemented quiet zones.
Discussed snow removal improvements, including exploring equipment purchases to improve sidewalk and walkway clearing and developing a strategy for the 2026–2027 winter season.
Worked with the Council Clerk to streamline and standardize the boards and commissions vacancy process. Current openings include Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Board of Building Standards and Appeals, Civil Service Commission, Local Board of Tax Review, and Housing Council.
Next Few Weeks
Over the next several weeks, I plan to:
Finalize and implement the standardized boards and commissions process.
Continue follow-up on open resident concerns and active projects to ensure accountability and steady progress.
As always, if you have questions, concerns, or ideas for Ward 5 or the City of Bedford, please reach out.
