City Council Compensation

When I was running for City Council, I was asked multiple times how much our representatives make. To be honest, I didn’t know the exact number myself until I had to complete the required paperwork at City Hall.
While all public employee salaries are technically public record, the websites used to find that information are often outdated and difficult to navigate. That lack of clarity leaves room for assumptions and speculation, with residents understandably wondering how much of their tax dollars go toward City Council compensation.
Since being elected, I’ve been open about my commitment to transparency with the residents of Bedford. To help provide clarity, I’m sharing my most recent pay information from the City of Bedford. Each City Council member is paid $768.12 every two weeks, which equals an annual salary of $19,971.12.
Beyond salary, the only additional benefits provided to City Council members are a basic life insurance policy and access to OPERS (Ohio Public Employees Retirement System).
I believe it’s incredibly important for residents to know how much their elected officials earn—at every level of government, from local to federal. I plan to continue this level of transparency throughout my term and do my best to keep all Bedford residents informed about how their city operates.
